The county is proposing to build the third phase of the Northshore Greenway, a pedestrian and bicycle path along the Pa'ia coastline.

The latest installment is two-thirds of a mile long, running from Puna Road in town to Baldwin Beach Park, smaller in scope than originally planned.

Previous phases installed a path from Kanaha Beach Park along Spreckelsville Beach Road and Hana Highway to the end of Pa'ani Place, by the Maui Country Club. A fourth phase will link that stretch of greenway with the Phase III portion.

Public comment on a draft environmental assessment will be accepted until April 23.
