Hawai'i gas prices creep upward again

Advertiser Staff

Hawai'i's average gas prices rose again this week, but not as much as last week, according to the AAA Hawaii Weekend Gas Watch.

The statewide price average for regular unleaded is $2.97, three cents more than last week. Today's average price in Honolulu is at $2.87 per gallon, also three cents more than last week.

In Hilo, the average price is $2.98 a gallon, a penny over a week ago. The average pump price in Wailuku is $3.23 a gallon, also a penny more than last week.

"Crude oil prices bounced back up this week, and it remains to be seen how that will impact Hawai'i gas prices," said AAA Hawaii Regional Manager Richard Velazquez.

AAA Hawaii Weekend Gas Watch is a weekly snapshot of gasoline prices around the state, said Velazquez. Week-to-week price comparisons are offered as a service to consumers.

Prices are derived from fleet vehicle credit card transactions at 85,000 stations around the country, including Hawai'i. Prices shown are combined averages of the last card swipe of the previous day. Prices shown today are based on the last credit card swipe at each reporting station on Thursday.
