Advertiser Staff

Iwalani Yamaguchi singled home Carolyn Fisher from third with one out in the bottom of the 15th inning as Chaminade rallied past Patten, 5-4, yesterday in a marathon softball game that consumed 3 hours, 30 minutes at Central O'ahu Regional Park.

The Lions, from Alameda, Calif., held on to win the second game, 2-1.

Fisher spaced 17 hits in pitching the distance in the opener. She struck out three, walked three and held Patten scoreless over the final nine innings.

Elise Foster, who also pitched the distance for the Lions, was in control until the seventh when the Silverswords (7-20) scored three runs to send the game into extra innings tied 4-4. Caila McEachen hit a two-run single and Anina Quaranto singled in the tying run.

In the 15th, Fisher singled to left and advanced to second on an error by the left fielder. After one out, Valerie De Los Santos hit an infield single as Fisher took third. Yamaguchi then singled to left to score the game-winner.

In the second game, Chaminade trailed 2-0 entering the bottom of the seventh. Fisher hit an RBI triple to make it 2-1, but the rally ended there.
