Fast-starting Farrington hands Kahuku first loss

Angie Gasio scored 13 points and Elaine Leaupepe added 12 as Farrington toppled previously unbeaten Kahuku, 62-48, last night in an O'ahu Interscholastic Association Red Division girls basketball game at the Governors' gym.

Natalie Mata added 11 points for Farrington, which surged to a 35-17 halftime lead to thwart the Red Raiders.

Brittney Fesolai led Kahuku with eight points.

Kristyn Mathenson scored 25 points and Jessica Dusich 18 for Kaiser, which started the game with just six players, played the first overtime with four and the second overtime with two — Dusich and Chelsea Okuma, who finished with 14 points.
