Ching may sit out U.S. soccer game against Guatemala

Associated Press

FRISCO, Texas — Forward Brian Ching, of Hale'iwa, did not sustain any breaks after getting kicked in the face Sunday and leaving in the 63rd minute in the U.S. men's soccer team's 3-1 victory over Equador.

Ching, who might not play against Guatemala on Wednesday, fed Landon Donovan for the second of his three goals Sunday at Tampa, Fla.

"Physically, I think he's OK," U.S. interim coach Bob Bradley said of Ching. "We also have some other forwards in camp, so it's a question mark in terms in how we will choose to use him, so that's something that we'll discuss. I thought he had a very good game. His ability to be in good positions, hold the ball, fight for the ball, and obviously, the second goal was as a result of his ability to turn a play into a great pass."

U.S. soccer players arrived in Texas today, but their equipment, however, didn't make it.

With no gear and steady rain, the team called off a planned practice ahead of Wednesday night's exhibition game.
