Man pinned between car, house dies from asphyxiation

Advertiser Staff

A 64-year-old man killed in the driveway of his Kalaniiki Street home in Kalani Valley yesterday died of asphyxia due to chest compression from being pinned between his car and house, according to an autopsy performed today by the Honolulu Medical Examiner's Office.

The manner of death is listed as accidental.

A police vehicular homicide investigation into the nontraffic fatality determined the man's 2007 Mercedes Benz S550 sedan was moving backward in the driveway close to the house with the victim outside the open driver's door.

The medical examiner is awaiting confirmation of the man's identity before releasing his name.
