Man drives car into window at Hawaii Kai Post Office

Advertiser Staff

The Hawaii Kai Post Office was slightly damaged this morning when a customer drove his car into a window.

"One of our customers drove up over the stop blocks — I guess he thought he was in reverse but he went forward instead," said David Thibeault, Post Office supervisor.

The incident at the post office, at 7040 Hawai'i Kai Drive, was reported to police about 7:20 a.m.

"We weren't open for business so there was nobody in the office and no one was injured," Thibeault said.

The car broke a smaller 3-by-5-foot window below the main picture window, he said.

"The customer just backed his car out and we're replacing the glass with plywood while we wait for repair estimates," Thibeault said.

He described the driver as "a young man."
