HAWAI'I KAI
City reviewing dog park plans

Advertiser Staff

City planning and permitting officials are reviewing plans for the Hawai'i Kai dog park on Keahole Street, at the Park and Ride facility.

Dog park organizers hope work will begin in May when city parks workers will grub the land and begin planting grass. An irrigation system will be installed.

"Until we get the permits, we are only guessing at the timing," said Elaine Dobashi, Hui 'Ilio president. "We had hoped to have the dog park ready by June 3, the day of our third annual dog walk."

Preregistration deadline for the dog walk is May 12. The cost is $20. Go to www.hui-ilio.org or e-mail hui-ilio@hawaii.rr.com to register for the dog walk.
