Boy critical after almost drowning

The father of a 7-year-old boy who was found at the bottom of a swimming pool at a Waikiki hotel Tuesday told police he left the pool area for just a few minutes to smoke a cigarette.The man said that when he returned, he could not spot the boy at first glance and then noticed a motionless figure at the bottom of the pool.
Staff workers at the Waikiki Marriott Beach Resort tried to revive the boy using CPR but were not successful, police said.
They said the boy was rushed to Kapi'olani Medical Center in critical condition.
