UH-Hilo softball splits, HPU swept

Sarah Weisskopf and Leo Sing Chow teamed on a one-hitter as 11th-ranked Hawai'i-Hilo beat Cal State Monterey Bay, 9-0, to split a non-conference doubleheader at Seaside, Calif. The game was cut to five innings due to the eight-run mercy rule. UHH (24-4) lost the first game, 2-0, to Monterey Bay (10-27).Also, Cal State Stanislaus swept Hawai'i Pacific, 5-1 and 1-0, in a non-conference doubleheader Wednesday at Turlock, Calif. HPU dropped to 18-6; CS Stanislaus improved to 28-8.
