Island Air to outsource some services

Advertiser Staff

Island Air will outsource some of its ground-handling services to Aloha Airlines starting April 3.

Aloha, Island Air's code-share partner and its former owner, said in a news release that it will perform ground-handling services for Island Air at Lihu'e, Kaua'i; Hilo and Kona on the Big Island; and Kahului, Maui. Island Air will continue to service its own flights at Honolulu Airport and at airports at Lana'i, Moloka'i and Kapalua, Maui.

Aloha said it will offer jobs to Island Air ground-handling workers but did not say how many it planned to hire.

Aloha said it will take over ground-handling for Island Air on a phased-in schedule: at Lihu'e on April 3, Hilo on April 5, Kona on April 10 and Kahului on April 12.

"This agreement strengthens our marketing partnership with Island Air," said David A. Banmiller, Aloha's president and chief executive officer.
