With a five-member advisory committee named to assist in the search, University of Hawai'i athletic director Herman Frazier yesterday pledged to "move expeditiously" to hire a new men's basketball coach.

Riley Wallace's 20-year tenure as coach ends April 30th and Frazier has said he hopes to name a replacement soon after Monday's conclusion of the Final Four.

"We'll move expeditiously through the process and identify a quality leader for our men's basketball program," Frazier said in a statement e-mailed to media.

The five members of the committee charged with "screening and interviewing of candidates" according to the release are:

Robert Ichikawa, an attorney for Kobayashi, Sugita and Goda; Janet Yoshida, president of the UH Alumni Association and senior director of marketing and sales for Hawaiian Airlines; Gay Satsuma, associate director for UH's Center of Japanese Studies; Tony Guerrero, vice chairman of 'Ahahui Koa Anuenue and vice chairman of Retail Banking Group at First Hawaiian Bank; and Chantelle Laan, co-chair of UH's Student-Athlete Advisory Committee and a member of the women's track and field team.

The release said Frazier's recommendation will be forwarded to Manoa Chancellor Denise Konan and UH President David McClain for final approval.
