Financial literacy fair set for Wednesday in Honolulu

Advertiser Staff

The Department of Commerce and Consumer Affairs will hold a free financial literacy fair from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesday at Tamarind Park in Downtown Honolulu.

As part of Financial Literacy Month in April, DCCA's Commissioner of Securities Tung Chan organized the fair to provide educational information, services and programs to the public.

"Financial literacy is an important part of everyday life," said Chan. "Financial decisions impact our lives from credit card debt to retirement savings. We want consumers to be as well informed as possible when making these decisions."

Exhibitors will offer free financial literacy information to the general public. In addition to the Commissioner of Securities' Investor Education program, volunteer exhibitors include other DCCA educational programs, State Unclaimed Property, State Office of Aging's Sage PLUS and Sage WATCH Programs, University of Hawaii at Manoa Cooperative Extension Office, Honolulu Police Department, Consumer Credit Counseling Services of Hawaii, Hawaii Community Lending, Hawaii Home Ownership Center, Social Security Administration, United States Post Office, Hawaii Council on Economic Education, AARP-Hawaii and Junior Achievement.
