Top public schools principals to be saluted today

The state House of Representatives today and tomorrow will recognize the state's top public schools teachers, principal and campuses as part of "Education Week" at the Capitol.
Today's honorees will be recognized in a noon ceremony in the House chamber. They include:
2007 High School Principal of the Year — Robert Stevens, Radford High
2007 Elementary School Principal of the Year — Myron Brumaghim, Nanaikapono Elementary
2007 Milken Family Foundation National Educator — Teri Ushijima, Mokulele Elementary principal
2007 Teacher of Promise (National Milken Educators of Hawaii) — Natalie Rodrigues, Mililani Waena Elementary
2006 American Star of Teaching (U.S. Department of Education award) — Phyllis Nakama-Kawamoto, Mililani Ike Elementary
Tomorrow's honorees include:
2007 Hawaii State Teacher of the Year, Honolulu District Teacher of the Year — Jami Muranaka, Kaimuki High
2007 Central District Teacher of the Year — Lizabeth Horii, Mililani Iki Elementary
2007 Leeward District Teacher of the Year — Naidah Gamurot, Kapolei High
2007 Windward District Teacher of the Year — Brett Kewish, Kahuku High and Intermediate
2007 Hawaii District Teacher of the Year — Janice Nakagawa, Waiakeawaena Elementary
2007 Maui District Teacher of the Year — Judy Locke, Kihei Elementary
2007 Kaua'i District Teacher of the Year — Allison Carveiro, Kekaha Elementary
2007 Blue Ribbon School, Kawananakoa Middle School
