Undercover sting nets 11 drug arrests

Advertiser Staff

A four-month undercover drug sting culminated in the arrest of 11 people in Kalihi on federal drug charges this morning.

Nine of the arrested were indicted by a federal grand jury last week on charges of distributing and conspiring to distribute crystal methamphetamine.

The "reverse sting," in which officers posed as drug dealers, took place on Akepo Lane this morning.

The operation, dubbed "Crushed Ice," involved District 5 Crime Reduction Unit officers and undercover detectives with the Honolulu police narcotics/vice division.

Officers began gathering evidence and making undercover buys in November 2006, police said.
