Police arrest 28 on Big Island for DUI in week span

Big Island police DUI roadblocks and patrols continue to yield high returns. From Mar. 20 to Mar. 26, 28 motorists were arrested for drunk driving, bringing the 2007 total to 310, an increase of 19 percent over 2006's 261 total at the same time.Eight of the drivers arrested this week were involved in accidents.
Major accidents have decreased on the Big Island, however, dropping from 620 in 2006 to 520 at the same time this year.
