Big Island police traffic investigators today identified the female passenger who died Tuesday in a one-car crash on Mauna Kea Access Road above the Mauna Kea Visitors Center as 33-year-old Yuko Aizawa of Osaki-Shi, Japan.

Aizawa was a back-seat passenger in a red 2006 Jeep that was traveling down Mauna Kea Access Road when the driver lost control. The Jeep ran off the road and down an embankment, and overturned. Aizawa was ejected from the vehicle.

Also killed was the driver, Philip Patrick Y.M. Lung, 34, of Honolulu. Lung's wife, Ryoko Lung, 31, was hospitalized in serious condition.
