Get hands-on with science at Bishop Museum

The Bishop Museum's third annual Mad About Science Day, from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday, promises fun for all ages. Go behind the scenes and tour the natural-science collections, view the sky through telescopes, and enjoy hands-on activities organized by the museum's Holoholo science outreach program. Kyle Datta, an expert on global warming and biodiesel, will speak at 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. in the Watumull Planetarium. Admission: $3, museum members and children younger than 3 are free. LOCAL-ONLY HIP-HOP AT PIPELINE

Jake "The Snake" Miyasato, host of KTUH FM's all-local hip-hop program "The GenuineHI Show," drops a similarly themed party — "Endless Break" — on Saturday at Pipeline Cafe. The event will feature live performances from Creed Chameleon, Soul Pacific and Big Mox; on the turntables will be Fame, Revise, Sir Styles, Banks and Mad. Doors will open at 9 p.m. and close at 4 a.m. Entry is $15 for ages 18 to 20, and $12 for 21 and older. College students can get in for $10 with a student ID. More information is at genuineHI.com.
