Horizon Lines ocean cargo carrier paying off debt

Advertiser Staff

Horizon Lines Inc., the No. 2 ocean cargo carrier to Hawai'i, said it's making a $25 million prepayment on its $218.9 million of long-term debt.

The company previously made payments of $30.6 million toward reducing what was originally a $250 million loan. It also made a scheduled $600,000 loan payment today.

The shipping company based in Charlotte, N.C. said the prepayment will reduce its interest expense and cut the amount owed under the loan to $193.3 million.
