Advertiser Staff

Omar Angels Salazar, 22, of Mexico, has been charged with various criminal offenses in connection with a sexual assault alleged to have occurred early Monday at a vacation property in Keauhou, Kona.

Kona patrol officers initially received an abuse complaint, but further investigation revealed that a woman was sexually assaulted, threatened, cut with a knife, beaten, choked, and held against her will.

Police put out an all-points bulletin for Salazar on Monday. He was arrested Wednesday after he turned himself in at the Kealakehe police station.

At 11:18 a.m. Friday, he was charged with kidnapping, second-degree assault, first-degree terroristic threatening, felony abuse of a family/household member, attempted first-degree sexual assault and two counts of first-degree sexual assault. His bail was set at $52,500. He is being held at the Kealakehe police station cellblock awaiting his initial court appearance.
