Kapalua Resort's Vino restaurant to close June 11

Vino Italian Tapas & Wine Bar on Maui will close June 11 because of redevelopment work at Kapalua Resort, the restaurant's owners announced. The restaurant, a partnership between restaurateur D.K. Kodama and master sommelier Chuck Furuya, opened in 2003 at Kapalua's Village Course golf clubhouse.
The owners said declining resort traffic cannot sustain business given the Village Course's closure in March, the Kapalua Bay Hotel closure last year and the upcoming six-month closure of the Ritz-Carlton, Kapalua. The resort properties are being renovated or redeveloped.
Closing was a difficult decision, the Vino partners said, adding that another suitable Maui location could not be found. Kodama and Furuya will continue to operate Vino at Restaurant Row on O'ahu.
