Lingle to provide DLNR director search update today

Gov. Linda Lingle is expected to make an announcement this afternoon regarding the search and selection of a new director for the Department of Land and Natural Resources.A news conference is set for 1:30 p.m. in executive chambers at the state Capitol.
Lingle last week convened a 30-member search committee to find a replacement for Department of Land and Natural Resources Director Peter Young.
Young will chair the committee, which includes representatives from environmental, native Hawaiian, cultural, business and agricultural groups.
The state Senate last month voted against confirming Young as director of the state Department of Land and Natural Resources.
