Tourism team travels to Midwest to promote Hawai'i

Advertiser Staff

A Hawai'i tourism team is promoting the state to meeting planners in the Midwest this week.

Beginning today and throughout the week, a delegation of 16 Hawai'i meetings professionals will be selling the Islands to meeting planners based in Chicago and Des Moines, Iowa.

The effort is being led by the Hawai'i Visitors and Convention Bureau and the Hawai'i Convention Center.

Business receptions for about 90 are planned for tonight at Roy's Restaurant in Chicago, and at Gibson's Steakhouse tomorrow in Rosemont, Ill. Grammy Award-winning slack key guitarist Daniel Ho will perform.

Kathy Dever, HVCB's Midwest regional director of accounts, said, "These markets are key to building business with associations meetings. We're sharing the aloha of the islands with planners and showing them the industry-wide support their clients can expect when they book events in Hawai'i."

From Chicago, the team moves to Des Moines.

Travel industry partners joining HVCB and the Hawaii Convention Center are Continental Airlines, Grand Hyatt Kauai Resort & Spa, Hawaii Prince Hotel Waikiki, Hilton Hawaiian Village Beach Resort & Spa, Marriott International Hawaiian Islands, Mauna Lani Bay Hotel and Bungalows, Prince Resorts Hawaii, ResortQuest Hawaii, Starwood Hawaii Hotels & Resorts, Turtle Bay Resort, and Waikiki Beach Marriott Resort & Spa.
