Inouye's two-hitter helps Kaiser win in OIA tourney

Wednesday's first-round results

Kaiser 1, Wai'anae 0

Toby Inouye tossed a two-hitter with seven strikeouts and one walk and the host Cougars (8-3) snuck by the Seariders (7-4), the OIA West's fifth seed.

Nathan Masaki scored the lone run on a wild pitch in the bottom of the sixth for the Cougars, the OIA East's fourth seed. Masaki was pinch running for Joe Honma, who got on with a two-out double.

Kaiser will face play 'Aiea (9-1), the OIA West's top seed, tomorrow at Central O'ahu Regional Park.

Kalani 3, Leilehua 1

Micah Takahashi struck out nine batters to help the Falcons, the OIA East's third seed, defeat the Mules at Central O'ahu Regional Park.

Kalani (8-3) plays tomorrow at Mililani (8-2), the OIA West's second seed.

Leilehua, the OIA West's sixth seed, finishes the season 7-4.

Pearl City 6, Moanalua 4

The host Chargers scored five runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to rally past Na Menehune.

Na Menehune (6-5), the sixth seed from the OIA East, led 4-1 after scoring three runs in the top of the fifth.

But the Chargers (8-3), the OIA West's third seed, rallied for five runs to win the game and will face Roosevelt (7-2-1), the East's second seed, tomorrow at Stevenson Middle School.

Castle 6, Kapolei 5

Pulama Silva hit a two-run home run and a triple to help the visiting Knights, the OIA East's fifth seed, defeat the Hurricanes.

Castle (7-3-1) will play at Kailua (9-1), the OIA East's top seed, tomorrow.

Kapolei, the OIA West's fourth seed, finishes the season 7-4.

Tomorrow's quarterfinals

Pearl City (8-3) vs. Roosevelt (7-2-1) at Stevenson Middle School, 4 p.m.

Kalani (8-3) at Mililani (8-2), 4 p.m.

Castle (7-3-1) at Kailua (9-1), 4 p.m.

Kaiser (8-3) vs. 'Aiea (9-1) at Central O'ahu Regional Park, 6:30 p.m.
