Honoka'a High's Maekawa wins fourth golf title

KAILUA, KONA — Honoka'a High School's Sean Maekawa shot a 2-under-par 70 to win his fourth Big Island Interscholastic Federation golf title on Tuesday at The Club at Hokuli'a.

Maekawa is believed to be the first BIIF golfer to win four individual titles.

Maekawa, who finished first at 216, entered Tuesday's third and final round of the BIIF Championships tied for first with Hawai'i Prep's Max Bonk. But Bonk shot a 2-over 74 to finish tied for second with Waiakea's Henry Park at 220.

Waiakea's Britney Yada held of Kayla Moffett of Kamehameha Hawai'i to win the girls title by two strokes. Yada entered the final round with an one-shot lead over Moffett. Yada shot an 82 to finish at 239, while Moffett shot an 83 to finish at 241.
