Niu Valley Middle School is organizing an extramural soccer team similar to what it offers to students playing volleyball, basketball and track and field.

Parental permission is required to join the new team. If there is enough interest, the school will form a team to compete with other middle schools in the Honolulu District.

To determine interest, a series of soccer clinics will be held from 9 to 11 a.m. Saturdays through May 19 at the Niu Valley field.

Clinics will focus on speed and agility training, ball control and game/team strategy.
