KAILUA
Maintenance to cause odors

Advertiser Staff

City officials warn Kailua residents that it could get a little, well, unpleasant around the Kailua Wastewater Treatment Plant today.

That's because there's likely to be an increase in noise and odors as crews conduct required maintenance on the plant from 7:45 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

The maintenance requires the workers to remove a 45-foot-long screen at the facility during the day.

City officials have alerted 'Aikahi Elementary School and nearby residents about the work.

"We regret the inconvenience, but the work is absolutely necessary," said Eric Takamura, the city's Environmental Services director.
