Widow collapses at Don Ho tribute

Advertiser Staff

Haumea Hebenstreit Ho, widow of entertainer Don Ho, collapsed on stage after dancing a hula to "I'll Remember You," one of Ho's signature songs, at last night's May Day concert at the Waikiki Shell.

She was the surprise guest at The Brothers Cazimero's 30th and final Lei Day concert at the Shell, taking part in their tribute to Don Ho, who died April 14.

Haumea Ho was helped offstage but did not require medical attention. Somebody associated with the show drove her and her mother home.

A memorial service for Don Ho will be held Saturday in Waikiki. His ashes will be scattered in the ocean off the Royal Hawaiian hotel, and a service will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. at Queen's Surf Beach.
