POLICE BEAT
Fight at Kailua gas station leads to arrest

Advertiser Staff

Police arrested a 31-year-old Kailua man after he reportedly got into an extended fray early this morning with a 35-year-old man at a Kailua gas station.

Police were told that the two men were arguing at the gas station about 1 a.m. when the younger man went to his vehicle and retrieved a rifle.

The two men struggled over the rifle before the older man was able to overpower the younger one and take the gun away, police were told.

The older man then began to beat the younger one with the butt of the gun, at which point the younger man went back to his vehicle and returned with a baseball bat. He reportedly hit the older man several times with the bat before the older man was able to take away the bat, police were told.

The older man then turned the baseball bat on the younger man and was striking him with it when the gas station manager told both men to leave the area, police were told.

The two men called police independently to report the incident.

The younger man was arrested at a Kane'ohe Bay Drive address on suspicion of a weapons offense and second-degree assault.

Woman reports kidnapping, sexual assault incident

Police yesterday were looking for two men, ages 33 and 40, in connection with an incident reported by a 32-year-old woman who said she was held against her will and fondled by the men.

Police said the woman went to work after the incident and reported it to her family when she returned home later in the evening.

Police classified the case as a kidnapping and third-degree sexual assault.
