Academy of Arts picks European, American art curator

Advertiser Staff

Michael Rooks has been appointed curator of European and American art at The Honolulu Academy of Arts.

Formerly with Museum of Contemporary Art, Chicago and most recently The Contemporary Museum, Rooks took up his post in early April. The appointment follows that of Shawn Eichman, who recently became curator of Asian art.

As curator of European and American art, Rooks will assume primary responsibility for the museum's collections of Western art from the ancient world to the present, including planning major exhibitions, proposing and guiding acquisitions and engaging with artists, collectors and curatorial colleagues around the world.
