Rally to kick off Bike to Work Day on May 18

Advertiser Staff

Oil up the chain and get some air in those bike tires. The City and County of Honolulu is joining the Bicycling League and local businesses to celebrate the 51st annual National Bike Month.

As part of the festivities, May 18 has been deemed Bike to Work Day. A downtown rally will be held at the makai-'ewa corner of Bishop and King streets at 7 a.m., where bike-riding commuters will be greeted by Mayor Mufi Hannemann.

The Hawaii Bicycling League is forming commuter convoys to assist riders with safe riding and equipment tips and route selection.

For more information, contact Chris Sayers, the City Bicycle Coordinator, at 768-8335, or the Hawaii Bicycling League at 735-5756.
