UH's Tuioti-Mariner on Rimington Trophy watch list

University of Hawai'i's Lafu Tuioti-Mariner is one of 46 players who have been named to the spring watch list for an annual award presented to the most outstanding center in college football.

Tuioti-Mariner, a 6-foot, 279-pound junior, is on the list for the Dave Rimington Trophy, named after the 1981-82 all-American at Nebraska who went on to play in the NFL.

The winner of the award will be honored at a banquet in January in Lincoln, Neb.

Past winners include Nebraska's Dominic Raiola, a Saint Louis (Honolulu) School alum, West Virginia's Dan Mozes, Minnesota's Greg Eslinger, Michigan's David Baas (2004 co-winner), LSU's Ben Wilkerson (2004 co-winner), Virginia Tech's Jake Grove, Miami's Brett Romberg and Ohio State's LeCharles Bentley.
