McLachlin shoots 71, Wilson 72 at Wachovia tourney

Honolulu native Parker McLachlin shot a 1-under-par 71 today in the opening round of the PGA's Wachovia Championship at Quail Hollow Country Club in Charlotte, N.C.Kane'ohe's Dean Wilson shot a 72. Padraig Harrington had a one-stroke lead after a 66.
McLachlin, a tour rookie, got birdies on two par-4s and bogeyed a par 3 to make the turn at 1 under. He bogeyed the par-4 No. 14 and birdied the par-3 17th.
Wilson got to 2 under after 11 holes with four birdies and two bogeys, but double-bogeyed the par-4 No. 16 to finish at even par.
