Fire on Big Island under investigation

Advertiser Staff

Big Island fire investigators are investigating a suspicious fire in the Nanawale Estates subdivision that caused approximately $1,000 in damage last night.

The fire at Hapu'u and Plumeria was reported just after 7:30 p.m. and was under control before 8 p.m. Three engines, one tanker and a medic unit responded to the call.

The Hawaii County Fire Department said the wooden structure within the open steel frame warehouse was partially involved when firefighters arrived. They extinguished it with water and Class A foam.

No injuries were reported.
