ISLAND LIFE SHORTS
It's Jazz Night on 2nd floor of furniture showcase

Advertiser Staff

It's live jazz. At a furniture store. Well, at the brand-spanking-new Honolulu Design Center's also brand-spanking-new Cupola Events Theater anyway. The multimedia performance space next to the design center's Stage restaurant and Amuse self-serve wine bar is doing Jazz Night at The Cupola twice a month. Cop a squat at a table or beanbag chair at Cupola tonight and catch pianist Rich Crandall and a few of his jazz player friends performing live. Showtime is 8 p.m.; cover is $10. 1250 Kapi'olani Blvd., second floor, www.honoluludesigncenter.com.

HORROR GLUT

LOTS OF SCARY FILMS PREPARED TO ROLL

Want to see something really terrifying in Hollywood? Look at the number of horror flicks invading the multiplex. This year, no fewer than 39 fright films have been scheduled, according to tracking company Media By Numbers. From 2004 to 2006, the average was 20. That means fierce competition every weekend this year to spook crowds.
