Fumes cancel classes at Kahuku; activities still on

Advertiser Staff

School officials have canceled classes today at Kahuku High and Intermediate School because of lingering fumes from pesticide spray that sent three girls and a boy to Kahuku Hospital yesterday for observation.

The spraying occurred yesterday afternoon, Emergency Service spokesman Bryan Cheplic said yesterday.

But most activities scheduled for Kahuku High and Intermediate students today will still be held.

Specifically, the seventh-grade banquet and judo, water polo, girls basketball, and track competitions are still on. All were being held off campus.

The AVID school dance, which was scheduled to be held on campus, is the only event that is canceled.
