The new building will be developed at the site of Henke Hall, which is situated mauka of the Kennedy Theatre, the news release from the governor's office said. Total design cost is estimated at $7.9 million and will be requested in the university's future budget.

The project will address problems related to the deterioration of many of the university's classroom facilities and the general lack of larger classrooms and office space needed to support the undergraduate education program, the release said.
