Kailua, Pearl City reach OIA baseball title game

Kailua will meet Pearl City in the O'ahu Interscholastic Association baseball championship game tomorrow at 6:30 p.m., at Central O'ahu Regional Park.

Kailua beat Mililani, 12-11, and Pearl City beat Kaiser, 12-3, on Friday.

Zach Akamine, Kili Vierra and Ryan Kinoshita each had two RBIs for the Surfriders, which scored nine runs in the fourth inning for an eight-run advantage against Mililani.

The Trojans scored four runs in the fifth on five hits and Richie Mariano belted a three-run homer to left in the sixth to close the gap to one.

Vierra, who threw 82 pitches in a complete-game victory the previous day against Castle, pitched a perfect seventh for the save.

Kellen Ushijima went 4-for-4 with a triple and scored three runs, and Carlton Tanabe went 3-for-4 with a double and triple, and drove in three runs for Pearl City.

In consolation matches, Kalani defeated Castle 8-3 and Roosevelt eliminated 'Aiea 3-2.

Kalani will play Roosevelt tomorrow at 11 a.m. at Central O'ahu Regional Park for fifth place and the final berth to the state tournament.
