Big Island police renew request for help with fatal crash

Traffic investigators are renewing their request for the public's help in locating the driver and vehicle involved in a hit-and-run motor vehicle/pedestrian crash March 14 in Mountain View on the Big Island.The victim of the hit-and-run, identified as Raymond L. Carvalho IV of Mountain View, was walking north on North Kulani Road when he was struck by a vehicle also traveling north at 10:44 p.m.
Police believe the vehicle may be a blue 1999 to 2006 Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck or a blue 2000 to 2006 Chevrolet Tahoe or Suburban.
Police would like to question a male and female who were seen near a vehicle matching that general description at the Mountain View post office shortly after the crash.
