Soccer's Ching makes $220,000 with Houston

Former Kamehameha athlete Brian Ching earns about $220,000 with the Houston Dynamo, according to figures released Friday by the Major League Soccer Players Union.

Ching, of Haleiwa, is the second-higest player on the team and among the top tier in the league.

Richard Mulrooney is the highest-paid Houston player at $233,200

David Beckham is the highest-paid player, earning $6.5 million from the Los Angeles Galaxy. He is one of just two earning more than $1 million annually. The other is New York Red Bulls' Juan Pablo Angel ($1.593,750).

Beckham's teammate Landon Donovan earns $900,000 and Kansas City Wizards' Eddie Johnson earns $875,000.

The figures were rounded to the nearest dollar. The total is the base salary plus a prorated share of signing bonuses and other guaranteed income under the player's contract.
