In Honolulu, events that week will bring City leaders, medical personnel and the community together to promote safe and healthy lifestyles and to honor the dedication of emergency services personnel and paramedics who serve Oahu residents and visitors, 24 hours a day, seven days a week, 365 days a year.

"As this year's theme emphasizes, the courageous men and women who serve as EMS providers are always answering the public's call for help all day, every day, throughout the entire year," said Patricia J. Dukes, Chief of the Honolulu Emergency Medical Services Division. "It's important that we take the time to honor these front-line medical responders who have dedicated their lives to ensure the safety of everyone around them."

Mayor Mufi Hanneman will sign an EMS Week proclamation in front of Honolulu Hale at 10:30 a.m. May 18.

Immediately following the proclamation signing, the Emergency Medical Services Division will have a ceremony to bless newly acquired equipment and recognize personnel who recently performed outstanding acts of courage and bravery.
