About 50 hurt after soccer game in Jerusalem

Associated Press

JERUSALEM -- About 50 people were injured, four seriously, when fans rushed the field after their team won a league game in Israel today.

Israeli media said the fans were hurt in the crush of people trying to celebrate the victory by the Jerusalem team Betar, only to be stopped by fences separating the stands from the field.

Rescue service workers said two of the four were put on respirators. Hadassah University Hospital, which is near the stadium, said three of the seriously injured were being treated in the trauma section and two others, not as badly hurt, in the emergency room.
