Rainbows open WAC softball tournament on Thursday

Top-seed Hawai'i will open the Western Athletic Conference softball tournament Thursday against the winner of Wednesday's Utah State-Louisiana Tech game at Fresno, Calif.

The Rainbow Wahine, the WAC regular season champions, received a first-round bye. They'll open play in the double-elimination tournament at 8 a.m. Thursday at Bulldog Diamond.

In other opening round games on Wednesday, Fresno State plays San Jose State and New Mexico State faces Nevada.

The championship game is scheduled for Saturday.
