Pair charged for moped and ID thefts

By Rod Ohira

A man and woman charged yesterday for allegedly stealing mopeds, identity theft and drug offenses made their initial appearance today at District Court.

Morgan C.K. Peris, 39, who has no permanent local address, and Kimberly Jones, 33, of Ma'ili are each being held in lieu of $25,000 bail for unauthorized control of a propelled vehicle, unauthorized possession of confidential information, and seven drug counts.

The pair were arrested Saturday at a Pawa'a-area hotel for allegedly operating a moped that was reported stolen and another with a defaced serial number.

Police later found drugs and stolen identification in plain view in their hotel room.
