UH Lab school student wins congressional art contest
News Release
Kenory Khuy of University Laboratory School won Best in Show in Kaha Ki'i (An Artistic Discovery) the annual Congressional Art Competition for high school students in the First Congressional District.For her work "Speechless," Khuy won a prize package that includes a trip to Washington, D.C., this summer to see her artwork on display in the National Art Gallery, custom framing plus a $100 gift card from PicturesPlus, and a 30GB Apple iPod.
In addition to Best in Show, the top 10 students in 2-dimensional as well as computer-generated/photography categories were honored.
A record 167 students entered the competition. The contest was organized by the volunteer Congressional Arts Competition of Hawai'i, with Congressman Neil Abercrombie as the event's honorary chair.
