The Hawai'i Island United Way's fundraising golf tournament at the Club at Hokuli'a's Jack Nicklaus Signature golf course in Kona raised $55,979 for island non-profit organizations.

Hawai'i Island United Way President Darla DeVille said the March 12 event raised a record amount.

"Thanks to our title sponsor, Hokuli'a, and corporate sponsor, Oceanic Time Warner Cable, we can continue to do our part to help meet the social needs of the Hawai'i Island community," she said.

Proceeds raised through the golf tournament will help to fund 40 programs run by Hawai'i Island United Way's partner agencies.
