Kalaeloa brush fire burned about an acre

Advertiser Staff

A brush fire at the corner of Bataan and Roosevelt avenues at the former Barbers Point Naval Air Station in Kalaeloa burned about an acre before being brought under control by multiple fire units this afternoon.

The fire destroyed scrub land and at no time were homes or lives threatened, said Honolulu Fire Department spokesman Capt. Terry Seelig.

The fire was reported at 1:22 p.m. and took just over an hour to be brought under control by firefighters, Seelig said.
