Advertiser Staff

Waikele Elementary School third-graders will present "Save the Habitats!," an original opera written by the students. The environmentally oriented production features about 100 students, including nine soloists.

The one-night-only production is set for 6 p.m. tomorrow in the school's Hale Hanai cafeteria, 94-1035 Kukula St.

The project is part of Hawaii Opera Theatre's award-winning education program, which works with students, teachers and school administrators to produce a mini-opera. It also enables the school to incorporate artistic program components into school curriculum.

The songs of "Save The Habitats!" is set to famous opera and operetta tunes.

Admission is $1, and the performance is open to the public. Space is limited and reservations are requested via phone: 677-6100, ext. 240, or e-mail dean_hamane@notes.k12.hi.us.
