Advertiser Staff

Hawai'i State Hospital will get $1.6 million in construction funds to re-roof portions of the Kane'ohe facility and to make other improvements.

Gov. Linda Lingle has released $1,634,000 in construction funds that will also be used to improve the air-conditioning, retrofit the hot water system, repave hospital access roads and replace selected stairways, doors and windows, her administration said.

"As a key mental healthcare facility for our state, improvements to the Hawai'i State Hospital will benefit patients, visitors and employees," Lingle said in a news release. "Continuing to provide comprehensive and effective mental healthcare to all Hawai'i residents is important to our administration."

The hospital provides mental healthcare services to more than 350 patients annually.
