YouTube removes De La Hoya video after complaint

Associated Press

LOS ANGELES — Video of Saturday's 12-round fight between Oscar De La Hoya and Floyd Mayweather Jr. was taken down from YouTube.com after HBO complained.

A spokesman for the cable network said today that HBO had exclusive rights to rebroadcast the pay-per-view fight, which was won by Mayweather. The original broadcast was placed on YouTube during the weekend.

HBO spokesman Ray Stallone said no formal copyright infringement claim was filed.

"We simply made a request," Stallone said. "We told them to remove the footage and they complied."

An e-mail seeking comment from a YouTube spokesperson was not returned
